How to improve articles
When we say it is possible to transform dry, dull articles into beautiful pieces of advertising we mean it.
All you need to do is follow this simple step by step guide, and the stats in the title will be yours for the taking. So lets get started.
Step 1: The wrong way to format articles
Below is a sample article which we are going to use to show you how it is possible to make the blandest article around into an attractive piece of text.
The first step is learning how to do format your articles. Take the article below. Here is a page that is completely unformatted and is in dire need of formatting.
And one of the reason it is struggling is because it has been copied and pasted from a Word doc, directly into an html code. And as you can see, it is nothing if unappealing to a visitor. After one look at this, they will more than likely close it for good and move on.
There is a solution to this problem though. One which at MoreNiche we can show you how to use in the following simple steps.
So let’s begin, and get your articles looking great!

Step 2: Breaking it down
Now the first and most simplest thing you can do is break your content down into smaller paragraphs. Take a look at sample 2 below.
As you can see, we have done just that. We have split each paragraph up into distinct points, which if you compare it to the original page has made an immediate difference. Not only does it look better, the page has increased substantially in appeal. A difference that your visitors will notice too.

Step 3: Basic text formatting
Okay, the content has been split up. The paragraphs look neater, and the page is more readable. The next step is to format this text.
Now the best way that we know of is taking the time to work through the text, highlight which key phrases, names or points stand out to you as being important and then making them look distinct. Not only with this improve the readability of the article; it will enhance its overall appearance.
To do this simply introduce bolding, italics or underlining to these desired areas, and take a step back to witness the impact of this change. A little bolding can make all the difference.
So which words do you choose? The best way we have found, is to view the ones that you choose to bold as being part of a story that surmises the article. Keywords, phrases or points that indict the purpose of the article whilst revealing all its positive points.
By approaching them this way, you are not only enabling search engines to use this formatting style as a way to pick up all your relevant keywords, but you are allowing visitors to skim over all the key points of your article.
Take the sample below. We have implemented these suggested formatting changes, and the difference is profound. You can almost feel yourself being drawn to these keywords, which if chosen correctly, can also give your website extra ranking points.

Step 4: Inserting images and tabs
Now comes the imagery, and let’s just say they are an incredible way to break up your content and add character to your article.
See this sample.

Step 5: Embedding links
You’ve got your article formatted. You’ve introduced appropriate images. What’s left to do? Inserting links.
There are two methods you can use with links. One method is to apply these links to your images (as we have done in the example), but you can use this other method too: adding links to meaningful phrases within your article, such as ‘weight loss management program’.
By doing this, anyone who is interested in finding out more about this subject, can use this link to click through to another, more detailed page.
Just make sure, that if you do choose to add links to phrases, you pick ones that make sense. Where it would be logical for a visitor to want to click through.
Now putting this aside, one common mistake many marketers make is putting text links into their article once or twice near the top of their content. This is not enough, especially if you are producing an article that is 3+ pages long.
The best approach is to try and include at least one link at the beginning, in the middle and at the end of your article.
That a way, at whatever point in the article a reader’s interest is peaked. Where they want to take action (either by going to the product site or going straight for the sale). They can follow one of your links at any point in the article, without having to scroll through to find one. They will already be there ready and waiting for them to click through.
Saying all this, the link you provide at the bottom of your article is important. It is your last chance to do a call to action, before they opt to click away to another site – you need to keep them on yours.
Now if in this scenario you have chosen to write an informative article, and at arriving at the end, a visitor wants to perform your desired action, this last link is your means to allowing them to take this action.
With this reason in mind, we recommend making your links noticeable and inviting. They need to catch surfer’s attention, and make them want to click through.
Images are one sure way of achieving this, but you can also achieve the same eye-catching affect with a text link too. Try using one of the following call to actions: visit, click here, order, start now or get started. Get the idea... make them want to.
Take this short article for example. Here we have applied just one strong call to action, towards the end of the article, but you can see what we mean. Your eyes are instantly drawn to this highlighted link.
In longer articles or in ones that directly talk about the product itself, we recommend that you follow the 3 link rule placing one in the top, middle and the bottom. That a way your visitor can’t miss out.

Recommendations and notes
Great job, but before you finish with your article completely, here are a few more tips for you to consider:
- If you opt to use image links, make sure you insert ALT tags that will relate your image back to your keywords.
- Depending on the type of system you use, if it is possible try masking your affiliate links. This can be done using one of several methods: JavaScripts, PHP files or .htaccess files.
- Think about readability. Will everyone who comes to your article be able to read it easily? If not, make your text larger.
- Always try to think outside the box. For instance, trying testing out your own ideas within your article – may it be your choice of voice or layout. Keep it interesting.
